Week 3 Seasonal Eating Meal Plan | January 19-25
This third week of cooking from the crisper, freezer, and pantry. Approaching the end of January has me curious about what’s left in the pantry. By making an inventory of what’s remaining, I can plan affordable seasonal meals during these winter weeks. I can also go back to my pantry planner and note what’s running low and items I have in excess.
In the Freezer
The freezer is still pretty well stocked. Between the monthly Butcher Box delivery and my own preserves, we won’t need to add proteins to our shopping list this week!

The freezer offers:
- Salmon
- Scallops
- Ground Sirloin
- Chicken thighs and wings
- Bacon
- Peaches
- Blackberries
- Green beans
- Pesto
From the food preservation pantry
The pantry still offers plenty of fresh and local preserves for these mid-winter meals! I’ll be using:
- Tomatoes
- Dried herbs
- Sweet potatoes
- Winter squash
- Fermented radishes
- Sauerkraut
- Dilly beans
- Cherry preserves
- Wineberry preserves
- We’re making our own bread these days
From the garden
January offers slim picking from the kitchen garden. I supplement with sprouts and shoots grown in my kitchen and under grow lights. Here’s what we’ve got to choose from:
- Arugula
- Spinach
- Mung bean sprouts
- Beet and chard microgreens
- Rosemary
- Parsley
My shopping list
That just leaves a few staples required from the grocery store:
- Eggs
- Mushrooms
- Cauliflower
- Potatoes
- Apples
- Cheeses

The Week 3 Meal Plan for January 19-25
I’m sticking with the breakfast regimen from last week. Those anti-anxiety smoothies were just what the doctor ordered! If lavender isn’t your flavor, you can also use chamomile tea as the calming liquid in your morning smoothie. You can find the recipes for this and all the other menu items below!
Remember, start with the meal planner!
Another thing to add to your morning smoothie to help calm the body is Magnesium. I add a capsule every day and can always feel it in my body when I forget.
Here’s the meal plan:

As for proteins, I signed up for Butcher Box because they were running an enticing special. The scallops, ground sirloin, and the chicken came from this month’s delivery. I can’t recommend this service enough! I can source sustainable meat products from family producers without overexposing myself during the pandemic. Butcher Box is a certified B-Corporation, a company designed to help create a more inclusive economy through their business practices.
